For some patients who have arthritis in their hands, it can be difficult to administer a treatment injection.
With this in mind, Amgen and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals have developed the Enbrel® SureClick™ autoinjector for patients who suffer from psoriatic and rheumatic diseases.
The device recently garnered approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The manufacturer notes that the autoinjector also provides an alternative option for patients who resist biologic injection treatments due to a fear of needles. With this device, the manufacturer notes that patients never see the needle.
The autoinjector also features a safety needle cover that unlocks when one places the autoinjector firmly against the injection site. The manufacturer adds that two audible clicks signal the beginning and completion of the injection treatment.
The single-use device comes prefilled with a 50 mg/mL dose of Enbrel, according to the manufacturer. It notes that Enbrel is approved for treating moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and moderate to severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

A New Approach To Invigorating Joints
Some patients suffering from osteoarthritis (OA) and joint pain may be uncomfortable with joint injections while other patients may not care for certain forms of oral medicine.
With this in mind, Lake Consumer Products offers Invigorate Joint Rejuvenating Products. Offering the option of either a fruity, chewable gel or a drinkable liquid, Invigorate Joint Rejuvenating Products combine the two ingredients of glucosamine and chondroitin, according to the company. The chewable gel also contains hydrated collagen.
The company says the products are designed to minimize joint discomfort and improve joint mobility. It adds that the combination of great taste and single dose should be appealing to seniors as well as children with arthritic conditions.
